In una cittadina dell’America rurale del New Mexico, Charming, una banda di motociclisti dediti al traffico d’armi, fa base ormai da due decenni. Lo sceriffo del luogo, Unser, è connivente con il leader del gruppo, Clay, convinto che questo sia un piccolo prezzo da pagare per avere un’oasi felice in cui i cittadini di Charming possano vivere senza problemi.
Ma il cambiamento, o il progresso, è in agguato.
I vecchi accordi sembrano lentamente sgretolarsi sotto la pressione di nuovi interessi. Il vice sceriffo Hale non è disposto a seguire i vecchi accordi e all’interno dei Samcro, il figliastro di Clay, Jax, nuovo leder designato, non è convinto che la strada intrapresa dal club sia quella segnata a suo tempo dal padre, fondatore del gruppo morto in circostanze misteriose.
Gemma la madre di Jax ha fatto di tutto, compreso risposarsi con Clay, per far si che Jax diventasse l’uomo freddo e spietato che lei vorrebbe a capo del gruppo, ma il ritorno in città della vecchia fiamma di Jax, Tara, che aveva deciso di abbandonare questo tipo di vita rischia di mettere a repentaglio il suo “lavoro”.
Come se non bastasse da un lato l’FBI, guidata dall’agente speciale Stahl, è sulle tracce dei Sons con la speranza di arrestare i leader dell’IRA che forniscono le armi spacciate dai motociclisti.
Dall’altro un’organizzazione di ariani ha deciso di mettere le mani sulla città per usarla come base per spacciare droga.
